Maroc Classic is Morocco's rally where gorgeous vintage vehicles race against prestigious and powerful cars on a varied road network. Participants are tested on 19 regularity tests, designed to assess the accuracy of the drivers' timekeeping.
Covering a total of 2330km in seven stages, the 2010 Maroc Classic starts in Casablanca and ends in Marrakech, passing through the towns of Essaouira and Agadir amongst others.
Sports, classic and GT cars are all welcome, including replicas, but must be built between 1930 and 1983. Vehicles which aren't eligible for the Maroc Classic may race in the Maroc Prestige, a similar event for cars manufactured from 1984 onwards.
Full information, costs and application forms can be found on the rally website.

For centuries Morocco has drawn the curious traveller to its shores, where there is much to keep the most demanding of travellers happy. The imperial grandeur of Fez provides a dramatic contrast with the stark beauty of the High Atlas mountain range; the beaches of the Atlantic are as chilled as the souks of Marrakech are bustling. Why not time your trip to coincide with the Essaouira Festival, which celebrates the mysterious music of the Gnaouas in this pretty ancient port? Meanwhile, Marrakech manages to bustle even more than usual during July's Popular Arts Festival with its daily bill of storytellers, acrobats and musicians. |
